The UK Home Office has released new figures showing Manchester United fans have the most arrests in England and Wales for the 2024/25 season, with 121 arrests, overtaking Manchester City and West Ham United.
The UK Home Office's annual report revealed that in the 2024/25 season, there were 1,803 football-related arrests of fans in England and Wales, a 12% decrease from the previous season (2023/24), when there were 2,043 arrests.
Of these, Manchester United led with 121 fans arrested, followed by Manchester City with 94, and West Ham United, who had been the top team for three consecutive years, dropped to third with 77.
While the club with the biggest drop in arrests was Arsenal, with 43 fewer arrests than the previous year, Aston Villa saw the biggest increase, with 71 arrests jumping from 26 last season.
In terms of case types, public disorder continued to account for the largest share at 32% of all offenses, followed by violent disorder at 22% and possession of Class A drugs at 19%
The Ministry of the Interior also said that although the arrest rate nationwide this season was 4.2 per 100,000 spectators, there was also a tendency to arrest fans in European matches compared to the previous season.( 789bk )
