Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario believes Lionel Messi will still play a key role in leading Argentina to the 2026 World Cup.
Leo led the Albiceleste to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but since then he has not guaranteed that he will lead the team to defend the title in next year's World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. But R9 believes that Messi will lead the team to the field in the biggest tournament and be a key player for the team even at the age of 40.
“The Argentine national team is still full of quality. Scaloni has built a team full of ambition and determination, a team that always helps each other, a smart team that can go all the way together.
“And of course, having Messi will make a huge difference compared to other players.
“I watched Messi play in the FIFA Club World Cup and he’s not done yet. He’s still brilliant. The truth is, when he touches the ball, something interesting always happens.
“He reads the game perfectly and knows what to do. If he loses the ball, he tries to chase it back. I see him still performing well and I think he will be in good shape for the World Cup.”( livewin365 )
